Where do you want to take your class this semester?

Improve Student Retention

Instructors who require Connect report a 20% increase in student retention.1 That means more students successfully complete the course and move one step closer to graduation.

Professor M. Jeff Quinlan uses the At-Risk Reports as a quick way to determine the students who may need extra attention in the course. Quinlan says, "The reports provide me with the rationale to initiate contact with struggling students, without having to hand back homework with red marks all over it."

Madison Area Technical College

"I have seen significant improvement in all areas of student learning: grade distribution, pass rates, retention rates, and exam scores."

— Professor Jeff M. Quinlan

Before implementing Connect in Fall 2010, Professor Quinlan had a 61% retention rate in his Accounting 1 – Principles course. This number increased after starting to use Connect, and by Fall 2014, he had a 95% retention rate in his class.

Boost Pass Rates

Instructors who required Connect saw pass rates improve by 13%.1 Connect’s adaptive study experience personalizes learning, helping students get engaged and stay engaged.

"I use the Module Details to see which objectives students are having difficulty with as a way of tailoring my lecture. I always show the graphs from the Module Details report to the class so that way the students can see the data for themselves. I pull up the Missed Questions on SmartBook and use them as a way of organizing the lecture."
– Professor Tim Pierce

Pensacola State College

"Usually students don't read the course content assigned to them. But, when you require SmartBook, they read the material. Students don't even realize they've been studying for two hours AND they are ready for the exam."

— Professor Debra Kuhl, Ed.D

Increase Advanced Learning

Instructors who use Connect say they spend 67% less time grading student assignments,1 creating more opportunities to engage students in higher level learning activities, both in and out of the classroom.

– Professor Tim Pierce

Bethel University

"The use of Connect is allowing me to adapt my lecture style to include more group learning activities without having to formally flip the classroom. I am able to incorporate one lecture a week out of three that focuses exclusively on group problem solving and discussion-based learning."

— Professor Brandon Winters

Track Student Outcomes

Instructors tell us that measuring and reporting course outcomes is an increasing need. Connect is designed to meet that challenge. Content in Connect is created and tagged by learning objective to provide you the flexibility to design your course, your way, and report on student learning outcomes whether established by your institution or a governing body.

The reporting function of Connect gives instructors like Professor Michaël Dewally deeper visibility into student performance. "After an assignment is submitted, I review the assignment results. I use that for two purposes: 1) checking that performance is not slacking through the semester as students either disengage or get busy with other courses and 2) checking the performance of students at risk. I then switch to the student performance so I can intervene more directly in the event of a decline.”
