LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, McGraw-Hill announced its participation at this year's International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), where company executives will discuss how digital innovation continues to improve the education industry and provide an update on the state of adaptive learning technology in today's classrooms. At the show, the company will debut a new user interface for SmartBook™, the first adaptive reading experience for higher education, which was launched at CES last year along with the broader LearnSmart Advantage™ adaptive learning suite.

McGraw-Hill will also highlight its adaptive study tool, LearnSmart®, which recently surpassed 3 million users as the market-leading adaptive learning tool in higher education. McGraw-Hill developed SmartBook and LearnSmart in conjunction with Denmark-based adaptive learning company Area9.

Stephen Laster, chief digital officer at McGraw-Hill, and Brian Kibby, president of McGraw-Hill Higher Education, will also join other thought leaders at TransformingEDU, the education conference and exhibition at CES, to share thoughts on digital courseware, personalized and adaptive learning, and what the future holds for education technology.

"I believe we are reaching a 'when, not if' moment in the personalized education movement," said Laster. "I am excited by the progress we have made as a company and as an industry in developing and advancing adaptive learning and other important education technologies, such as LearnSmart and SmartBook, but there is more work to be done. We have increased our focus on the user experience to make it even easier for instructors and students to use our  technologies, and we are sharpening our application of data and analytics to provide more insightful feedback about students' current and future performance. I am confident that 2014 will bring even greater innovation to schools and universities as we work toward creating more data-driven, real-time classrooms and increasing student engagement and results."
