McGraw-Hill Becomes Official Partner of Future Ready Schools Leadership Network

New initiative announced by President Obama designed to help U.S. K-12 school districts use technology to ensure all students reach their full potential

NEW YORK, Nov. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ – McGraw-Hill today announced its support and commitment to the Future Ready Schools Leadership Network, a new initiative designed to help every school district in the U.S. plan how to use technology to ensure all students reach their full potential. Announced by President Obama at the White House today as part of the ConnectED to the Future event, the Future Ready Schools Initiative is a new effort to help K-12 district leaders nationwide develop and implement sustainable, forward-thinking plans for joining technology implementation with quality instructional practice. The goal of the initiative is to ensure that all students graduate from high school ready for college and their careers.

The Future Ready Schools Initiative will be led by the Alliance for Excellent Education and the U.S. Department of Education with support from the Leading Education by Advancing Digital (LEAD) Commission. Key components of the initiative are a series of regional summits across the county in 2015 and the Future Ready Schools Leadership Network, which will offer ongoing, relevant support to all 14,000 school districts in the U.S. McGraw-Hill becomes one of a select group of corporate partners that will contribute to the network's development.

"College and career readiness is a critical issue, not just for educators and students but for the larger business community," said Bob Wise, president of the Alliance for Excellent Education and former governor of West Virginia. "With the help of technology, we can better ensure that our students are ready to succeed in the future economy. We're pleased to have the support of a digital teaching and learning leader like McGraw-Hill behind such an important national initiative."

The mission of the Future Ready Schools Leadership Network ties closely to McGraw-Hill's District Digital Conversion framework, which focuses on helping districts successfully implement digital technology by focusing on four key areas: the digital learning environment, digital teaching practices, digital change management and digital access.

"By 2018, nearly two-thirds of job openings will require some college education," said David Levin, president and chief executive officer of McGraw-Hill. "One of the key elements to making our students ready to succeed after high school is helping districts bring together the best in technology with excellent instructional practice. We're proud to be able to support the Future Ready Schools Leadership Network."
