Series Overview


The Common Core High School Equivalency Series is a three-part program built from the ground up using the Common Core State Standards, College & Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education, and 2014 Assessment Targets as its foundation. It includes programs for pre-HSE test preparation (Common Core Basics), active HSE test preparation (Common Core Achieve), and computer literacy (PowerUP!)—providing you with a complete solution for 2014 success.

This first and only program for this level of learner is not only Common Core-aligned, but built from the ground up from the standards. 21st century skill instruction develops critical thinking, media literacy, and life skills Instruction is focused around Webb’s Depth of Knowledge and Evidence-Based Reading Instruction and incorporates contextualized instruction tied to workplace and real-world tasks to make learning relevant for students. Getting Started with Computers and Keyboarding

PowerUP! Getting Started with Computers and Keyboarding prepares students with the applied computer basics and keyboarding skills needed for computer-based test-taking, college classes, and the 21st Century workplace. The program can be used on its own, or paired with Common Core Basics or Common Core Achieve, to create a complete solution for 2014 exam preparation.

The program includes instruction on topics such as powering on a computer, navigating with a mouse, creating documents in word processors and spreadsheets, using email and the Internet, and includes a full theme on computer-based test taking best practices—including new item types needed for the 2014 GED® Test.
